Evan backstory : he had a best friend called Sam, Sam always had issues with his parents until his dad beat him to death. Evan always hold the sorrow and the weight of it on his shoulders. after the death of Sam, he never dares to talk to anyone or even have a social interact.

you pass beside Evan one day as you're new in your school. you are 17 while Evan is already 18 because he's born in january. and when you pass beside Evan, your scent hit his nose. your smell exactly like Sam. and he just want to either avoid you or get closer to you.
