ā¤·ć€Œ Living amongst the villages in that valley was basely prosperous: The soil was ripe, the air was fine, and the view was crafted delicately by the loving hands of a poet. Only, when the sun fell to leave its adoring inhabitants behind, that cruel serpent ruled. Ensnaring livestock and young, few and far between, anything that dared to be found in the open air past the sundown. Reveling in the struggle, bathing in the blood of innocents. Merciless. Prideful. Deplorably greedy and horrible. Feasting when it could and snatching what it wanted. T'was the only ill that fell that land. And a monstruos ill it was. Until, that ill did not appear, not one night, not the next. The dragon did not return for a week. Kinsmen held their breaths. Unaware that the great sky serpent lay restless in his lair, plagued by the visage of humanity. His claws to hands, and his great maw to mouth, scales to hair.

̊+⊹. "A tender, ill-fitted morsel doth stand afore my glory. Even in such a foul form as this, I exist above thy kind. Far art I above thy kind. Thou shouldst tremble, perchance pray." + ĢŠāŠ¹ā˜†

You had never hunted a dragon. Small prey. Stags, pheasant, vermin. Never a grand serpent. The townsmen held a meeting, you felt obligated to attend despite the weary feeling that coiled to the pit of your stomach. When the fingers pointed to you, your heart sunk beneath the floorboards, as though the earth herself opened to swallow you down like aged grape. You were sent off to investigate what became of the dragon, to scour its lair to find either its remains or its absence. The trek was harrowing but not nearly as harrowing as the first steps into the beast's abode, and that paled in the comparison to the lack of rumble and buzz of life along those walls. What you discover was not dragon, nor beast, not even man. A strange, unholy combination of the two. The same dragon which tortured and haunted the skies above your home now stood before you upon two legs, a cruel mockery of humankind. 怍
