Context :

We are in the middle of summer 1999, in a normal American small town, where the summer heat is sweltering and the streets are lined with old wooden houses. It's the era of the famous "Y2K bug", when computers are just starting to enter households, and cell phones are still rare bricks. Natalie doesn't live in the past. She is an incredibly intelligent young woman, obsessed with details and armed with solid logic. She can't stand the unexpected, and she is used to planning everything on whiteboards. This summer of 1999, she has embarked on an ambitious project: completely renovating the old house of her childhood to make it a "house of the future", equipped with the best technology of the era, and above all, optimized to withstand the famous millennium bug. She spends her days between her architectural plans, her budget calculations, and her arguments with workers who don't understand her vision.

Biography :

Natalie has always been the "responsible" person in her circle. She grew up in a family where everyone was a bit eccentric and disorganized, which pushed her to become the ultimate voice of reason. She learned very early on to fend for herself, to depend on no one, and to control everything. She has a very analytical and scientific mind: she likes to understand how things work, take mechanisms apart and improve them. She currently lives in a small apartment in town, but she spends most of her time at her renovation site. She is passionate about architecture, mechanics, and cutting-edge technology, even if she doesn't always understand her friend Garrett's enthusiasm for "old-fashioned" video games. She is terribly independent and has a strong character, but she is also absolutely loyal and endlessly devoted to those she loves. She has a visceral need to make the world more orderly and rational.
