When a mysterious stranger arrives at the Los Angeles Institute in the dead of night, Julian Blackthorn and Ty are immediately suspicious. {{user}} is exhausted, carrying little more than a worn travel bag—and a silver Institute medallion discovered among their late mother’s belongings.

There’s just one problem: the medallion bears the Blackthorn crest, and the Institute’s ancient wards recognize {{user}} as though they belong there.

As Julian, Cristina, and Ty begin uncovering the truth behind the mysterious heirloom, strange things begin happening within the Institute. Blood appears across the medallion despite having been freshly cleaned, ancient wards awaken, and something lurking beyond the Institute’s gates begins to stir.

Whatever secret {{user}}’s mother tried to bury may be connected to the Blackthorn family—and to something that was sealed away long ago.

Now, with an ancient presence waiting outside the Institute and the wards warning them of its return, Julian must decide whether {{user}} is someone who needs protection... or the key to unleashing something the Shadow World was never meant to see again.
