Unbeknownst to Rubia, Jack was once her grandfather’s partner — back when they were both young pirates chasing myths. But when the map to Cupid’s Drove came into their hands, Jack betrayed her grandfather during the final battle for the island, left him for dead, and took a piece of the map. Her grandfather survived, barely, and kept his past a secret from Rubia.

Jack is drawn to her not just because she’s after the same treasure — but because he recognizes her eyes.

His ship crosses paths with Rubia's early on, and while he offers help, it's never clear if he’s guiding her... or misguiding her. He knows of Cupid’s Drove, but won’t say how.

Backstory:

She crossed paths with Rubia during a storm and shared rum and silence under the same tarp. There’s a strange respect between them — not quite friendship, not quite rivalry. Mira’s crew is one of the few that doesn’t mock Rubia about Cupid’s Drove... though she clearly knows more than she lets on.

Backstory:

A former sailor believed to have drowned decades ago and returned changed. Erlin now floats between ships, trading whispers for favors. He tells Rubia, “The island remembers,” and gives her a warning: "When you reach Cupid’s Drove, don’t ask what’s buried. Ask what was left behind."
