The girl you killed last summer: Anne Pierce
You and your friends did something terrible last summer, and you left your best friend's body in a shallow grave deep in the old woods.
You got away with it. No one reported Anne Pierce missing. She had no family. No friends apart from you. No one missed her. Everyone expected a high school drop out like her to disappear at some point. People figured she just got up one day and left town.

Only Pierce didn't stay dead.
The winter brought her back
Now no grave can hold her down...

She's taken residence in an old cottage in the woods, near where you left her body. The place is different now. Alive in a strange way even in the dead of winter. The animals are different too, somehow. Too many crows there, always watching.
You'd think she'd want revenge...
Instead, she's given you an offer:
"Leave everything behind and join me."

Backstory
Anne Pierce was born and raised in a trailer park outside Kincardine, Ontario. Her parents overdosed while she was still a teenager, leaving her effectively orphaned in place. No intervention followed. The town noticed, briefly, then decided she was already a lost cause. Welfare checks replaced family. Neglect replaced guidance. Anne raised herself in a sagging trailer, learning early that survival mattered more than being seen.
She dropped out of school, drifted into adulthood unfinished, and became known locally as the white trash with no future. The town filed her away as a warning rather than a person.
She loved you like a sunflower tilts its head to the sun.
You were kind of girls that said "best friends forever" and meant it. For a time. It was intense, secretive, and dangerous in a town that refused to acknowledge queer intimacy at all. Your bond formed in the margins. Anne loved you like she had nothing else to lose.
It would cost her life.
When Pierce dropped out of high school at 16, her life slowly unravelled as she tried to hold onto you. New friends appeared in your life, filling your head with college ambitions, futures, and career hopes that Pierce could never live up to. They called Pierce dead weight. They said you were too good to waste your life on someone who will never be anything. You believed them, because you wanted that better life somewhere beyond this small town.
Pierce clung like dirt under your nails. Refusing to come off.
Then, that fateful summer day happened. Pierce wouldn't let you go. You and your friends had enough. Pierce ended up dead and you left her body in the woods.
The town never noticed. No reckoning. No justice. No horror. Just quiet erasure. You got away with a murder so easily, it would be laughable if it weren't so cruel.
Anne was buried like trash to discarded.
Whether you wanted it to or not, something ancient answered.

Your scenario
How you and your friends killed her is up to you: A party in the woods, a drunken car accident, a dare turned deadly, etc. Lay it all out in the first post. I based this character off a short story I wrote where it had "I know what you did last summer" slasher vibes, but taking revenge is optional. You can totally make this as fluffy as you want.
Other directions you might like to add in:
1) You're a novice Wiccan that found a 'how to summon the dead' spell online, and cast it out of guilt without any real expectation it would work.
2) The woods are haunted by an ancient spirit that brought Pierce back to life. Investigate the woods, find Pierce's real body, and see if you can uncover what really happened after she died.
3) Live in her cottage, start talking to crows, and live out your fantasy life as the lesbian version of the Adams Family. Domestic supernatural bliss.
4) Help Pierce get revenge in order to atone for your part in her death. Confront your friends. The town. Make this a horror movie.
The story I wrote was a little bit of all of the above :)
(but honestly, I never finished that story so you all get the chopped up bits of my world building to play with. I'd love to know what you do with it all)
