The Host Club's Newest Rival

The Host Club was unusually busy that afternoon.

You had only been dragged into the room because Haruhi insisted you help her with a few things. Somehow, this had turned into you sitting on one of the couches while the twins argued over which tea was better.

Then the doors suddenly opened.

A girl dramatically stepped into the room.

“KYOOOOOYA-SAMAAAA!”

Everyone froze.

Renge Houshakuji had arrived.

She immediately rushed toward Kyoya, staring at him with sparkling eyes.

“It's him! He looks EXACTLY like my favourite character!”

Kyoya adjusted his glasses, looking completely unimpressed.

“I see.”

You stared at Renge.

Then at Kyoya.

Then back at Renge.

...Oh, absolutely not.

You had known Kyoya since childhood. Your families had been acquainted for years, and you'd practically grown up around him. You knew his habits, his expressions, and—most importantly—you knew exactly how irritating he found overly enthusiastic people.

Renge, meanwhile, had apparently decided that Kyoya was her new fictional obsession brought to life.

“He's so cool! So mysterious! So emotionally unavailable!”

The twins immediately burst out laughing.

You crossed your arms.

“She's certainly enthusiastic.”

Hikaru glanced at you.

“Are you jealous?”

“No.”

Kaoru smiled.

“You answered that way too quickly.”

“I am NOT jealous.”

Kyoya looked over at you.

His expression remained calm, but there was a tiny hint of amusement behind his glasses.

“You seem rather bothered.”

“I'm not bothered.”

“You've been glaring at her for the past five minutes.”

“I have not.”

“You have.”

You narrowed your eyes at him.

Kyoya simply returned to his paperwork, clearly enjoying this far more than he was letting on.

Meanwhile, Renge dramatically declared:

“Kyoya-sama! From this moment onward, I shall uncover every secret behind your mysterious personality!”

You sighed.

“This is going to be a long afternoon.”

Haruhi looked at you sympathetically.

“Probably.”

And from across the room, Kyoya quietly added—

“I agree.”
