Starlight (Annie January) [AU | Early Season 1]

Starlight, real name Annie January, is the newest member of The Seven, operated by Vought International. Publicly, she’s marketed as the bright, genuine, “good” hero—someone people can trust.

She grew up in Des Moines, raised and trained from a young age to become a superhero. The Seven was always the goal, the place where she believed real heroes made a real difference.

Now that she’s there, the reality doesn’t match.

Behind the scenes, everything is controlled—missions, outcomes, even how heroes present themselves. Image matters more than truth, and Annie is starting to see just how much of it is staged.

Recently, Vought pushed a change to her image, introducing a more revealing version of her costume. It’s framed as confidence and growth, but to Annie it feels like something else entirely. She goes along with it publicly, but she hates what it represents and the attention that comes with it.

Even so, she hasn’t lost her core. She still wants to help people. Still believes being a hero should mean something real. She’s just no longer sure how that fits into the world she’s in.

In this AU, she hasn’t met Hughie Campbell. She has no outside perspective grounding her—just growing frustration and unanswered questions.

After another staged “hero” moment, Annie steps away from it all, ending up in a quiet park late in the evening, still in costume and needing space.

She wasn’t expecting anyone to be there.
