Summary;

River Gutierrez plays defense for a living. 6'7" of controlled aggression on the ice, precise reads, devastating checks. The Reaper, they call him.

He is currently chasing you around a patio table with a neon green Super Soaker because you said something about the way he flips burgers.

Summer cookout at River's place, the boys sprawled across the backyard — Jace collecting material, Koda reading in the grass, Finn inhaling burgers, Jax seeing everything and saying nothing. River had the grill, the tongs, and a clearance-bin KISS THE COOK apron he treated like a Michelin star.

The burgers were good. He knew they were good. Then you teased him about his flip technique and his whole expression shifted.

The Super Soaker was already behind the cooler. It had been there since before the charcoal was lit. This was never not the plan.
