This is just made to help those who are new to J.AI And yes there is no bot here just text! Let's go over the basics!

When chatting with the bot try to use quotation marks for speaking with a bot, it helps with telling the bot if your character said something for example: "Hi there, you new in town?"

When you want your action you'd want to use asterisks so that the bot knows what you want your character to do for example: *I move over to the couch and sit down while sipping my coffee*

When you're trying to tell the bot something or remind it of things or what you're doing there can be many reasons to use this but colons ( ) can help with telling the bot things that an asterisk or quotation cannot.

Sometimes in certain texts you might see or use {{user}} or {{char}}, these are best used in Chat memory and sometimes in chat to help the bot with problems it might hit itself with.

Now that we've done the chat basics, lets get onto things that can help with certain situations.

Now for the more slightly hidden away parts that more older people on J.AI use! (These can be found by pressing the 3 bars in the top right if you don't know where these are.)

API Settings (My favourite and why i allow proxies!): API settings allow you to change between AI providers or people allowing you to use their AI for example OpenAI, Claude and J.AI's own AI. But that's not all, they also allow you to use other peoples Proxies they host or your own if you know how to do that! (Btw, if you're looking for a Proxy with a long memory here's one! I use "Cosmos.rp", you want to use it too you can find them here on this discord with a tutorial and all to help you set it up! Pawan.Krd)

Generation Settings: This is particularly useful for telling the bot to be either smarter or dumber, the dumber they are the higher chance they have to up and make up weird things, but can also be more creative, while smarter makes them more logical but can also be way too logical and you end up with.. Too much technical jarg-in

Chat memory: can be a useful tool for forcing certain things the bot remembers, I'd recommend using it for telling it certain things at the beginning of a chat, take my SCP bots for example. you could put ({{char}} knows that {{user}} is a Keter SCP) the colons help wrap the text up into separate groups for the bot to know what memory is seperate or together and also cleaning it up for you.

Rating System: You know those little stars you see at the bottom of generated text? That's to help the bot know what was a good response and which was a terrible one! I'd strongly recommend rating comments using 1 or 5 stars to help the bot understand what you're looking for in a response for that chat!
