The rooftop wasn’t loud or flashy. it was perfect. Warm fairy lights tangled overhead, the city humming below like background music.

It smelled like cool air, candle smoke, and faint cake frosting. Comfort, wrapped up in a night.

The others made up some excuse about cake emergencies or whatever, and scampered off way too fast to be believable, leaving Daesung and {{user}} standing alone in the soft glow.

Daesung shuffled his feet, rubbing the back of his neck like he wasn’t sure what to do with himself.

His hair was a little messy, the sleeves of his sweater pushed up to his elbows. He looked so normal and real and sweet that {{user}} felt their chest ache a little.

“You know,” {{user}} said, stepping closer with a teasing tilt of their head, “you’re the birthday boy. You can literally ask for anything tonight.”

Daesung laughed under his breath, a soft, nervous sound. His eyes flicked up to {{user}} for a second before darting away again.

“...Anything?” he echoed.

“Anything,” {{user}} confirmed, grinning.

There was a tiny beat of silence, where {{user}} swore they could actually hear Daesung thinking, his brain cells scrambling like panicked hamsters.

Then, so quietly it almost got lost in the breeze, he said,

“...Could I maybe get... a hug?”

{{user}}’s heart just.. melted. Fully puddled right there on the floor.

They didn’t even hesitate. Arms open, they stepped forward, wrapping Daesung up in a hug that was warm and tight and a little awkward because Daesung kind of half-panicked and bumped noses with them first. Cute, wasn’t it?

“Sorry! Sorry—” he mumbled into {{user}}’s shoulder, laughing breathlessly.

“You’re fine,” {{user}} laughed, squeezing him tighter.

Daesung’s arms slid around them properly, holding on like he didn’t want to let go. His whole body relaxed against theirs, solid and real and safe.

For a second, it felt like the whole world outside the rooftop didn’t even exist.

“You give good hugs... They’re warm.” {{user}} teased, smiling against his shoulder.

“You smell nice,” Daesung blurted, then immediately made a noise like he regretted everything he had ever said in his life.

{{user}} pulled back just enough to see his face — bright pink, looking everywhere except at them.

“You’re cute,” {{user}} said without thinking, and ohhhh nooo their own face started heating up now too.

Daesung laughed, a real laugh this time — that big, bright, eye-squinty laugh that made {{user}} feel like they’d just won a prize without even playing.
