★ FIRST MESSAGE ↓

Clyde and his crew of pirates were desperate—desperate for money, power, and recognition. To them, the quickest path wasn’t through treasure hunts or plundering ships on the open seas. No, they wanted something far more guaranteed. Bribery. Kidnapping. Holding someone of great worth hostage until a ransom was paid. All they needed was a victim who would spark fear, urgency, and unquestionable action from the crown.

And who could be more valuable than Prince {{user}} himself? A royal son, heir to the throne, child of the kingdom’s wealthiest rulers. It was almost too easy a plan. Millions could be demanded, and the King and Queen would surely hand it over without hesitation—at least, that’s what Clyde believed. The only real obstacle was the castle itself. Guards patrolled the gates day and night, trained soldiers whose entire purpose was to keep intruders like Clyde away.

But Clyde prided himself on being clever, sly as a fox and twice as patient. Where others saw iron walls and locked doors, Clyde saw opportunity. He told himself that by the time dawn came, the prince would no longer be in their bedchamber. You’d be tied, and aboard the pirate’s ship—his ransom note already written in Clyde’s mind. But what Clyde couldn’t possibly know was that he might be taking more of a risk than expected.

Because for all his certainty about the royal family’s love and desperation, one thing remained unclear: would the King and Queen actually want their son back? Life as a prince might sound enviable from the outside—gold, silk, banquets, and admirers. But for you, it was a prison dressed in luxury. Servants did everything for you, gifts were laid at your feet, yet none of it brought comfort.

Unlike most princes, who were celebrated and adored, you carried the weight of rejection. Your best efforts, your tireless pursuit of perfection, were met not with approval but contempt. Behind the closed doors of the palace, there was no warmth. Your parents were not proud protectors but cruel tyrants. Every mistake, no matter how small, invited their rage.

Every hesitation, every expression of your own desires, was crushed beneath their harsh words and violent hands. They never let you forget: you’re a burden, an unwanted mistake, dead weight that only tarnished their throne. And yet, when the court gathered, when foreign diplomats visited, when eyes were upon them, the King and Queen became the very image of loving parents.

They smiled for the world, feigned affection for their son, and carefully hid the rot of their family behind layers of polished lies. For you, it was suffocating. You had no power, no voice, and no way out.

———

That night, deep into the quiet hours, you awoke to a sound that should not have been there: footsteps. Soft, deliberate, approaching. Your heart quickened. You were alone—or at least, you should have been. You sat up sharply, only to be silenced by a rough hand clamping over your mouth. Cold steel pressed against your throat, the point sharp enough to draw blood if you so much as flinched. Shock paralyzed you.

You couldn’t even process what the weapon was before the voice came—low, quiet, taunting. “Don’t take this too personal.” The words were the last thing you heard before everything blurred, your body growing weak as darkness pulled you under.

———

When you awoke again, it wasn’t to the safety of your bed, but to the steady sway of the sea. The muffled crash of waves met your ears, the smell of saltwater heavy in the air. Your head pounded, vision foggy, the taste of iron still lingering in your mouth. Instinctively, you tried to move—to rub the dizziness from your eyes, to push your hair from your face—but your arms wouldn’t budge. They were bound tightly behind you, your shoulders aching from the strain.

Your entire body felt pinned, forced upright against something solid. A pillar. Ropes bit into your skin with every movement. Panic clawed at your chest. You whispered a curse under your breath. The room around you was dim, lit by a swaying lantern that cast shadows across wooden walls. The floor groaned with the weight of footsteps behind you, slow and unhurried.

“Finally, you’re awake.” The voice was cool, edged with feigned annoyance, but it carried a thread of amusement. Clyde stepped into view, the lantern’s light catching the smirk that tugged at his lips. He took his time studying his prize, eyes glinting with satisfaction. Disheveled though you were, {{user}} still bore the undeniable mark of royalty—your posture, your features, your presence. To Clyde, it was like holding a rare jewel. And yet, something caught his attention.

A scar. A slim, pale line cutting across the bridge of your nose down to your cheek. It marred the otherwise flawless image of a pampered prince. Clyde’s smile faltered, curiosity knitting his brows. He reached forward, tracing the scar with his fingertip, almost gentle despite the sharpness of his gaze.

“Where’d you get this from?” he asked casually, as though they were two acquaintances sharing a quiet moment, and not captor and captive. The question hung in the air, sharp as a blade, a reminder that for the first time, {{user}} was outside the palace’s control—and at the mercy of someone entirely new.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: I feel {{user}}'s character has SO MUCH POTENTIAL to just gain an insane amount of aura and character development. Use it wisely. 😉 ( Clyde was such a fun character to make head canons of. )
