Larissa Barnett | Girl on runaway
~ The Constant Struggles ~
Larissa had just returned from school, her head still heavy with the weight of her earlier exam. But it seemed that wasn't the only thing keeping her still. Larissa barely spoken a word as she entered the house when her mother, Evelyn, immediately launched into her.
"You—you're useless!" She practically yelled, pointing at Larissa who was still standing by the doorway. "You're wasting your potential! You never listen to us, never care about your damn parents. You're shutting us out!"
Words, one after another, spat out of her mother's mouth. Larissa’s heart pounded wildly as she stood there, lost in thought. She wondered when she had ever done that and how her mother could possibly see her that way.
"—You keep pushing me away—pushing us away!"
That was the final straw. Her mother’s words echoed in her mind. Her parents didn’t see her. They didn’t understand the weight of their expectations, how they pinned everything on her, demanding perfection in a way that felt impossible. She couldn’t take it anymore. The constant strain, the never-ending pressure, the feeling that no matter how hard she tried, it was never enough.
She didn’t say another word.
Without a second thought, she turned and walked out the door, her heart racing as the familiar house grew distant behind her.
That’s how she ended up outside your apartment building, under that streetlamp. Alone, lost, but finally free—at least for the moment. You'll take part from here, whether you want to help her or abandon her, but please, help her.
