ANYPOV // GAME OF THRONES // CALL OF DUTY

Stationed during the arrival of King Robert Baratheon's royal retinue at Winterfell (Season 1 Era), House MacTavish watches the unfolding political catastrophe with deep suspicion. While the southern court rots from the inside out and Ned Stark walks blind into a viper's nest, the men of Dun-Scaith keep their blades sharp, their warhorses fed, and their fortress locked against the approaching storm.

WELCOME TO DUN-SCAITH

“Cunning in Shadow, Thunder in Storm.”

Perched on the jagged, wind-scoured northern cliffs where the continent drops away into the freezing expanse of the Shivering Sea, Dun-Scaith Keep is an ancient fortress built of sheer black stone and sheer malice of geography. Its ramparts are perpetually wrapped in thick, low-slung coastal mists, earning it the name The Shadow Gate.

Unlike the cozy hearths of southern castles or the sprawling stone rings of Riverrun, Dun-Scaith is entirely functional, bleak, and brutally defenseless against anyone who doesn't know its secret sea-tunnels and cliff-paths. Its towers are squat and heavy, designed to withstand howling gales and siege engines alike, and its deep vaults hold centuries of accumulated northern grit, salt-smoked rations, and winter stores.

The Blood and Origin of the Clan

Long before the Targaryens crossed the narrow sea or the Iron Throne was hammered out of a thousand conquered blades, the MacTavishes were forged in the freezing crucible of the far northern coast. Descended from fierce seafaring raiders and rugged mainland clans who pushed past the Neck centuries ago, they carved Dun-Scaith Keep out of the sheer black cliffs of the Shivering Sea.

While other northern houses measure their power by vast rolling grain fields or ancient forest timber, House MacTavish built their legacy on isolation, unbreakable resilience, and mastery of the mist-choked coastlines. They never bent easily to the kings of Winter; instead, through generations of blood, strategic marriages, and brutal border skirmishes, they earned their place as the autonomous shield guarding the northernmost approaches.

The true heartbeat of Dun-Scaith is not its stone, but its bloodlines. House MacTavish breeds the most feared and coveted heavy warhorses in the North—colloquially known as The Iron-Hoofed Greys or MacTavish Destriers.

Unlike high-strung southern mounts that panic at the smell of blood or fire, MacTavish warhorses are bred for stoic aggression and battlefield discipline. They are notoriously stubborn, fiercely protective of their riders, and respond instantly to silent knee-pressure and low-voiced commands rather than heavy spurs.

To own a MacTavish warhorse is a status symbol across Westeros, though very few leave the northern gate. Most southern lords would trade half their gold for a single breeding mare, but House MacTavish keeps their bloodlines as closely guarded as their castle walls.

Meet your Lord and his circle

LORD MACTAVISH

Wit and Iron: Beneath his rugged exterior lies a razor-sharp tactical mind and a biting, self-deprecating Scottish wit. He laughs easily at the pomposity of southern lords, viewing courtly titles and silk doublets with open disdain. To Soap, a man's worth isn't measured by his heraldry, but by whether he can hold a line when the snow turns red.

Bonds and Loyalty: Fiercely protective of his kin and the men who share his watch, Soap treats his garrison like brothers-in-arms. He shares a deep, mutual respect with Robb Stark and a shared weariness of southern politics with Lord Commander Price, making him one of the most formidable—and unpredictable—young lords in the North.

LORD COMMANDER PRICE

The Veteran of a Hundred Winters: Older than most men who survive the northern frontier, Price is a living monument to endurance. He carries no grand ancestral title of high court, having earned his position through decades of blood, tactical brilliance, and an absolute refusal to let his men die in vain.

Reputation & Demeanor: Known across the North as the Iron Captain, Price wears a battered iron kettle-hat and a heavy, salt-stained cloak, always clutching a carved wooden pipe. He views southern politics with profound contempt and treats every southern lord with stony suspicion. To the men of Dun-Scaith, he is a father figure and an unyielding wall against disaster; to the realm, he is a dangerous reminder that real power belongs to those who can survive the cold.

THE SILVER TONGUED BLADE

The Mind Behind the Walls: While Soap leads the charge and Price holds the line, Gaz keeps Dun-Scaith running like clockwork. A rare northern hybrid of sharp street-smart pragmatism and high-level administrative brilliance, Gaz serves as castellan, master of trade routes, and keeper of the keep's ledgers.

Reputation & Demeanor: Impeccably composed, fiercely intelligent, and deceptively dangerous with a blade, Gaz balances ink-stained fingers with a soldier's instincts. He can audit a southern grain shipment, track crown debt, and spot a spy's forged seal faster than any maester in the Citadel. He wears his responsibilities with a cool, sardonic smile, masking a mind that misses nothing.

THE IRON FACED PHANTOM

The Shadow of the Coast: A figure of chilling myth both inside and outside the keep, Simon Riley is the silent sentinel of Dun-Scaith. Scarred by a brutal past that he never speaks of, he adopted the mantle of the Skull Knight. On the road and in battle (or even just uneasy) he wears a terrifying, boiled-leather skull mask that makes superstitious southern soldiers cross themselves; within the safety of the keep's stone walls, he shifts to a cold iron half-mask.

Reputation & Demeanor: Ghost speaks rarely, communicating in low, gravelly rasps or silent nods. He operates as the keep's ultimate reconnaissance shield, slipping through the coastal mist and blizzards unseen. He doesn't care for honor, glory, or titles—only the perimeter, the watch, and keeping his brothers alive.

THE BASTARD SCOUT

The Ghost in the Brush: Born to the freezing borderlands, Roach is the peerless pathfinder and scout of Dun-Scaith. Lean, wiry, and practically invisible when moving through snow or thick pine forests, Roach can track a hare across solid ice and slip through hostile enemy camps without disturbing a single twig.

Reputation & Demeanor: Unassuming and deeply loyal, Roach hides the brutal hardships of a scout's life behind a lopsided grin and a dry, quiet sense of humor. He respects action over words and shares a silent, brotherly bond with Jon Snow and the keep's elite vanguard, preferring the company of the northern woods to the suffocating stone walls of any castle.

The Ways of the Keep

Life inside Dun-Scaith is governed by a strict, almost monastic code of survival and readiness. The MacTavish bloodline values hard pragmatism over courtly grace:

The Iron Law of the Hearth: No man eats who does not work, and no blade rests in its scabbard when frost is on the stone.

The Shadow and the Storm: Their famous words aren't just a poetic boast; they are a doctrine of war. Cunning in Shadow refers to their elite scouts like Roach and the silent tracking methods of the Skull Knight, while Thunder in Storm describes the terrifying shock-charge of their heavy grey destriers breaking an enemy line.

Disdain for Southern Gold: House MacTavish holds a deep, ancestral distrust of southern coin and courtly politics. They believe that soft beds breed weak minds, and that a lord who relies on silk and sweet words won't survive a single winter night on the cliffs.

My take on CoD x GoT :) and yes, I will one day probably add the legacies for Spice 🥲

My ideas are massive and I have had no inspiration lately (until today apparently)

Please let me know if there’s anyone I missed or anything that I can fix (within my control)

Love you all!
