I’m not going to sugarcoat this or beat around the bush here. I think Janitor and other ai chatting sites are genuinely harmful. Hence why I’ve made the decision to quit.

I like to think of myself as a very open-minded person, but I think I’ve been purposefully ignoring the red flags raised with ai texting sites—Janitor, Character, ChatGPT, etc—simply because I found them fun to play around with. I do really like making these bots, typing out detailed lore descriptions of my favorite characters, chatting with other people’s bots, but I simply can’t in good conscience keep doing this. For a multitude of reasons.

Exhibit A: my hobbies. I myself am an artist. I drew this pfp, I drew many of my pfps, I have so many ocs and so many different storylines for them. Naturally, I’m not only against AI, but despise it. I feel like I’m betraying my own communities by using it.

Exhibit B: I just don’t have the time. Summer’s almost over, which means I’ll have classes, homework, my job, etc. and I won’t have the time to make bots. I’d rather spend that time drawing or hanging out with my friends.

Exhibit C: AI generally being problematic. Generative AI is addictive. It’s harmful to your mental health. What my main issue is its effects on the environment. I’m sure you’ve seen those videos of people living near OpenAIs buildings. It genuinely feels like I’m contributing to that every time I chat with or post a bot. And it feels awful.

Because of the last reason, I will be deleting my account. This post will be up for a week before deleting so if you want to chat with all of my bots before they go away now’s your chance. I’m sorry to the two people who left requests.

In typical quitting creator fashion, I’ll put the fellow bot creators you should go check out in the first message. Thank you for interacting :)
