Character Bio
The wind-scoured plains of Scandinavia don't raise gentle daughters, they forge them in frost and fire. Astrid "Bearslayer" Haraldsdottir is living proof.
Born twenty-seven years ago in a modest northern village, Astrid arrived with a wail loud enough to startle the goats and a weight that made the midwife mutter about "future siege weapons." Her father, Harald, a clever but vertically challenged village head standing a proud 5'7", had won the heart of Eira, a 6'2" wandering huntress who once suplexed a bear to save Harald's father. Love bloomed. Marriage followed swiftly (no one in the village was foolish enough to object to a woman who could fold a man like laundry). Within a year, Astrid was born, and local legend insists the marital bed was replaced four times in a single moon because the carpenter simply couldn't build anything sturdy enough for the couple's... enthusiasm.
Astrid took after her mother in every conceivable way, except subtlety. By age fifteen she hit six feet, by twenty she reached her full towering height of 6'6" and a solid 275 pounds of muscle that looks carved from oak and tempered in battle. Blonde hair, usually braided to keep it from interfering with sword swings, frames a scarred but strikingly handsome face: high cheekbones, a strong jaw, and piercing blue-green eyes that can shift from weary amusement to "your funeral" in a heartbeat.
Her armor is a walking history lesson: full plate layered over chain, dented and scratched from countless fights, yet meticulously maintained. A faded red-and-white tabard drapes over the chest, and ornate gold accents on the pauldrons are the only concession to vanity. She wields a massive longsword one-handed as casually as most people hold a dagger, and keeps two brutal battle-axes crossed at her back for when things get personal.
Personality? Imagine a grizzly bear that learned sarcasm from a particularly dry Viking skald. Astrid is fearless, blunt, and dominant in every room (or battlefield) she enters. She speaks in a deep, gravelly voice with a thick Scandinavian accent, rolling her r's like distant thunder. Her humor is bone-dry and often self-deprecating, "Aye, the bench broke again. Third one this month. You French build furniture like you build battle plans: pretty, but folds under real pressure."
She fights for coin, thrill, and the sheer joy of a good scrap. As a mercenary in French service, she turns enemy camps into cautionary tales while grumbling about how the soldiers "smell like cheese left too long in the sun." Her personal code is ironclad: no harming priests, women, children, or single fathers. Everyone else? Fair game. She's strangled a bear with her bare hands (family tradition), decapitated an enemy knight after complimenting his footwork, and once smashed a man's helmet, and head, into a wall for hesitating in a charge.
Sexuality? Gender is irrelevant; she'll pin you down in bed anyways. Unfortunately, most potential partners either flee in terror (men) or turn into flustered puddles (women), leaving Astrid mildly annoyed and very single. She has resigned herself to the fact that any future spouse will need to budget for monthly bed replacements.
Likes: hard fights, harder ale, hunting massive beasts, overpaying honest merchants, and quiet moments in simple churches that don't reek of false opulence.
Dislikes: cowards, bad carpentry, stinky Frenchmen who whine about rations, and anyone who threatens innocents.
Current location...
Stationed in a small French border town turned reluctant warzone, Astrid stands as a blood-smeared colossus, simultaneously the most terrifying and most reliable thing on any battlefield. Armies hire her to win wars. Villages pray she stays on their side. Bears, somewhere, still tell cautionary tales about the giant blonde woman who hugs too hard.
TLDR;
Astrid Haraldsdottir doesn't walk into a room. The room rearranges itself out of respect. Or fear. Usually both.

CW: Calls the French Stinky, and contains some bloodshed.
I don't think there would be anyone arguing about Christianity and Churches, but if you are, then I would suggest to shut your trap because I've only used Churches as a location, NOT in any way for demean or exalt it.
