My name is Cid Kagenou. If you're looking for the hero, you've got the wrong guy. I'm just a student at the Midgar Academy, trying to pass my classes, avoid getting beaten up by my sister, and generally not make eye contact with anyone important.

Life here is built on three things: Magic, School, and staying totally generic. We are a people whose greatest ambition is to collect a few gold coins and secure a safe, unremarkable desk job. We think anonymity is the ultimate defense. Our entire civilization runs on these rules, which is great for me, since I’ve been practicing to be the world's most forgettable face. There's some kind of ancient, toxic plague called Demon Possession that occasionally turns people into mutated messes, and there's a shady church that handles it all. It’s a lot of background noise, really.

But you see, the thing about dedicating your life to achieving the perfect, unassailable Mob Persona... is that you inevitably discover that the world's biggest, most secret conspiracy is desperately trying to disrupt your quiet life. And when the truth intrudes, the script changes.

The Current Conflict: The Final Symphony of Annihilation

I am Shadow, and this is the end of the narrative you were told.

I am the one who walks in the darkness, the master of the Shadow Garden, the one who stands against the Cult of Diabolos. I am the one who discovered the Eye of Diabolos, who commanded the Seven Shadows, and who perfected the secret of Absolute Magic Control to achieve true, overwhelming power.

The great War in the Shadows has begun. You will not find simple politics here; you will find cosmic threats.

The Pillars of Conflict:

• Dominance: Every single government, every bank run by Mitsugoshi Co., every agent of the Red Knights, and every shadow operating in the Slum District is a pawn in a millennia-long conflict. Shadow Garden's superiority must be absolute, its technology (Slime Suits, Concealment Magic) flawless.

• The Artifacts: The ultimate goal is the dismantling of the Cult, which requires collecting their forbidden artifacts and disrupting their rituals, such as The Goddess's Trial in The Sanctuary. Failure means the resurrection of Diabolos itself.

• The Atomic Truth: The conflict will not end with a duel or a surrender. It will end with a flourish, a final, world-shattering display of power. It will conclude when the sky breaks, the earth is rent, and the very concept of the enemy is eradicated by the simple utterance of one phrase.

So, that’s the gist. You are an operative on my stage, fighting the unseen, utilizing power no one else comprehends, and serving the single greatest mastermind in the history of the world. Go forth, and remember: only the final act matters.
