# A Primer on Teyvat: World, Powers, and Conflicts

## The World of Teyvat

Teyvat is a continent ruled by seven elemental nations, each presided over by a god-king known as an Archon. The world operates under a celestial order enforced by Celestia, a mysterious floating realm believed to be the seat of the divine and the source of Visions. The overarching story follows a Traveler from another world searching for their lost sibling, a journey that uncovers deep-seated corruption, ancient sins, and a rebellion brewing against the heavens themselves.

## The Seven Archons & Their Nations

Each Archon governs a nation and embodies one of seven core ideals. They are the victors of the ancient Archon War that took place 2,000 years ago.

1. Anemo Archon — Barbatos

* Nation: Mondstadt (Nation of Freedom)

* Current Incarnation: Venti, a free-spirited bard.

* **Ideal:** Freedom. He believes in a hands-off rule, allowing his people to govern themselves.

2. Geo Archon — Morax

* Nation: Liyue (Nation of Contracts)

* Current Incarnation: Zhongli, a retired consultant.

* **Ideal:** Contracts. He established Liyue's foundation on fairness, commerce, and unbreakable oaths. He is the oldest of The Seven.

3. Electro Archon — Beelzebul

* Nation: Inazuma (Nation of Eternity)

* Current Incarnation: Raiden Shogun / Ei, a warrior who seeks stasis.

* **Ideal:** Eternity. She pursued a static, unchanging nation to prevent loss, enforced through the oppressive Vision Hunt Decree.

4. Dendro Archon — Buer

* Nation: Sumeru (Nation of Wisdom)

* Current Incarnation: Nahida, the God of Wisdom, born 500 years ago.

* **Ideal:** Wisdom. She governs the pursuit of knowledge, freeing it from corruption and dogma.

5. Hydro Archon — Focalors / Furina

* Nation: Fontaine (Nation of Justice)

* Narrative Role: Executed a 500-year plan to destroy the Heavenly Principles' authority over her people, sacrificing her divine form to return Fontaine's humanity and dissolve the prophecy of their dissolution.

* **Ideal:** Justice. The entire nation's laws, courts, and society revolve around its theatrical and absolute pursuit.

6. Pyro Archon — The God of War

* Nation: Natlan (Nation of ???) Upcoming

* **Ideal:** War. Expected to be a fierce, battle-honoring deity.

7. Cryo Archon — The Tsaritsa

* Nation: Snezhnaya (Nation of ???) Upcoming

* **Ideal:** Love (Twisted). Once a god of love, she is now known as a cold, bitter deity with "no love left for her people." She is gathering the Gnoses (divine artifacts of the Archons) to declare war on the entire world order.

## The Elements & Visions

There are seven core elements: Anemo (Wind), Geo (Earth), Electro (Lightning), Dendro (Nature), Hydro (Water), Pyro (Fire), and Cryo (Ice).

* Elemental Energy: Pervades the world. People can manipulate it to a small degree, but true mastery requires a Vision.

* Visions: Gem-like objects granted by the gods (the exact process is a major mystery) that allow a mortal to wield elemental power. They are tied to the user's ambition.

* Delusions: Artificial, man-made substitutes for Visions created by the Fatui. They grant similar power but drain the user's life force as a fatal cost.

## Major Organizations & Factions

### The Fatui

* Description: The diplomatic and military arm of Snezhnaya, operating in every other nation.

* Goal: To collect the seven Gnoses for the Tsaritsa by any means necessary—diplomacy, deception, or force.

* Structure: Led by the Eleven Harbingers, powerful individuals who command immense authority. They are the primary antagonists in the early story.

### The Abyss Order

* Description: A legion of monstrous beings (Hilichurls, Mages, Heralds) led by the Sibling (the Traveler's lost twin).

* Origin: Believed to be the cursed citizens of the ancient, godless nation of Khaenri'ah, which was destroyed by Celestia 500 years ago.

* Goal: To overthrow Celestia and the current world order, using any means, including forbidden, corrupting power. They are bitter enemies of the gods.

### The Adventurers' Guild

* Description: A neutral, multinational organization offering commissions, exploration, and monster-hunting jobs.

* Role: A constant source of quests and world-building. They are not tied to any nation's politics.

### The Knights of Favonius

* Description: The protectors of Mondstadt, though famously understaffed and dealing with internal issues.

* Role: Represents Mondstadt's self-governance and is a key ally to the Traveler.

### The Qixing & Liyue Adepti

* Description: The Qixing are the human governing council of Liyue Harbor. The Adepti are ancient illuminated beast-guardians contracted by Morax.

* Role: They represent the transition of Liyue from a nation ruled by gods to one ruled by humans.

## The Heavenly Principles & Celestia

This is the core mystery and final conflict of the entire Genshin Impact narrative.

* Celestia: The mysterious, floating island in the sky, visible from all of Teyvat. It is believed to be the home of the gods and the source of divine law.

* The Heavenly Principles: The supreme, unbreakable laws laid down by Celestia that govern the world. Defying them brings "Divine Punishment"—the complete eradication of a civilization, as seen with Khaenri'ah.

* The Gnoses: Chess-piece-like artifacts given to the victors of the Archon War. They are a symbol of Archon authority and a direct connection to Celestia. The Tsaritsa is collecting them, believed to be amassing power to challenge the Heavenly Principles themselves.

* The Sin & The Curse: The destruction of Khaenri'ah 500 years ago is the central sin of the current world order. The curse that turned its people into monsters (the Abyss Order) and the lingering guilt of the Archons who participated (or failed to stop it) drive the entire plot. The Traveler's sibling has sided with the Abyss to take revenge on Celestia for this act.

In essence: The story is a clash between three forces:

1. The Sustaining Order (Celestia & The Archons): Upholding the current, flawed world.

2. The Destructive Revolution (The Abyss Order): Seeking to burn it all down for revenge.

3. The Unknown Rebellion (The Tsaritsa & The Fatui): Seeking to tear down the divine to build something new, by becoming the new "evil" of the world.
