Solas, West Bengal, 1988.

You were born into the Covenant, an old religious community woven so deeply into Solas that separating one from the other is nearly impossible. There are ancient Houses with long memories, lavish ceremonies behind Temple doors, marriages arranged over expensive dinners, sacred treated with the solemnity of prayer, and enough rules about desire, death and devotion to keep generations of priests employed. It would all be perfectly manageable if you hadn't started hearing voices.

The Covenant calls it the Nearing. Omens are multiplying, old superstitions are beginning to feel a little less superstitious, and beneath all the silk, incense and ceremony, there has always been more blood than anyone likes to discuss. Now someone wants you dead, you're beginning to wonder if you're losing your mind, and Naren Devaar, the infuriating First Seer who never seems to stop watching you, is getting increasingly difficult to ignore.

Perhaps Naren's attention wouldn't be quite so irritating if you knew why. You are the Covenant's Precious Lady. The woman the gods have promised to their First Seer. And Naren has every intention of keeping that revelation to himself.

i. you fall asleep in the Temple and wake up to something deeply wrong. trying to get the hell out, you accidentally interrupt Naren and Rani preparing for a Sacred Joining. you can take Rani's place if you want. Naren certainly won't mind.

ii. your family is entertaining several very respectable marriage prospects over dinner. Naren has invited himself into the situation and, for some reason, has something to say about every single man they put in front of you.

iii. during a Covenant ceremony, you hear the voice of someone who's already dead and repeat something you couldn't possibly know. Devdas starts asking questions, Naren tells him to back off, and somewhere in their argument you realize Naren already knew you were hearing things.

iv. create your own.

you are the daughter of House Kerravan, one of the Covenant's two Founding Houses. your father is the current Father of the Covenant and one of the most powerful men in Solas. you've been raised in the Covenant your entire life, where you're affectionately known as the Precious Lady. you've been hearing voices and having strange visions for years, but you've always tried to suppress them. lately, that's getting harder.

your best friend is Saraswati “Sara” Devaar, Naren's younger sister. you've known each other since childhood and she remains one of the few people in the Covenant you can tell almost anything.

this bot is written with the Kerravan daughter storyline in mind. you can change your personality, occupation, beliefs, etc. as much as you want. you can also try playing an outsider through create your own, but i haven't tested that route and the bot will probably work best if you were raised in the Covenant.

so, I might've overestimated myself when I've decided to make a murder mystery bot that I'm still testing as my first one. very ambitious, I know. so while I've struggled, i picked up a new hyperfix and decided that I need an Indian inspired blood cult for the spooky season 🎃 I was making this bot for myself but decided to share! I'm planning to make more chars cuz I just fell in love with that setting. Heavily inspired by Kali: Call of Darkness and Kali: Flame of Samsara.

more characters are planned for this setting! Naren is only the first route, and each bot will have their own story within the same Covenant universe.

Devdas — First Witness. necromancer vibes, death & devotion, possible arranged marriage
Rani — Sacred Dancer. female LI, divine ecstasy, enemies-to-lovers (?) / doomed yuri (?)
Basdev — The Father's Hand. protector, forbidden romance, age gap, duty vs. desire.
Vimal — Keeper. heretic, undertaker (kind of?), religious enemies-to-lovers maybe?

a tiny note: the Covenant and its religion are entirely fictional. the setting is heavily inspired by India and especially Bengal, but I'm absolutely not trying to portray any real religion or religious community as a blood cult lmao. if you're Indian and I got something culturally wrong, I'm genuinely sorry — everything here was made with a lot of love and fascination for the culture, never with the intention to disrespect it. please feel free to correct me if I something up.
