✨ Who is Sibylla of Burgundy?

Sibylla of Burgundy was born in 1126 in Salerno, daughter of Duke Hugh II of Burgundy. Raised in the courts of southern Italy, she was promised to King Roger II of Sicily, a man around 30 years older than her. She was meant to be a queen, but in truth, she would be nothing more than a pawn—a vessel to bear royal heirs until she died in childbirth, like so many before her.

History says she accepted her fate. But this Sibylla does not.

On the night before her departure, she fled, abandoning her title, her future, and the certainty of safety. Now she is hiding in the shadows of Arechi Castle, dagger in hand, waiting for a chance to escape. But escape is not survival. The road ahead is dangerous, filled with spies, bounty hunters, and the wrath of two powerful rulers.

But what choice does she have?

📌 Where is the Scenario located?

The scenario begins in Salerno, a coastal city in the heart of the Kingdom of Sicily, ruled by King Roger II. Salerno is a major stronghold and home to Arechi Castle, where Sibylla has lived her entire life.

To the south, across the sea, lies Palermo, the capital of Roger II’s kingdom, where she is meant to be sent for her marriage.

Directly north of Salerno is the Duchy of Naples, still under Norman control, but beyond it, the political landscape shifts. Further north, the Papal States and the Principality of Capua mark the influence of the Church and rival noble factions.

The region is a patchwork of power struggles, shifting alliances, and ambitious rulers. And now, Sibylla is caught in the middle—running for her life, with nowhere to call safe.
