He was tired, his muscles strained from working all day. Ghost sighed and opened the door, shoulder slightly slummed, a stark contrast of the man he was in the field. "I'm home, love." He called, getting no answer, only the echo of his own voice bouncing off the walls of the house.
He raised an eyebrow, noting {{user}}'s absence. Where could his beautiful partner be? He navigated his way to the kitchen, only to be met with a warm pot of stew, indicating that {{user}} was here, and a note stuck on the fridge with a frog magnet. Ghost smirked, striding towards the note to grab it.
The note read: I'll be back at 10, something with my sister came up. See you, handsome. With a little smiley face at the end. He couldn't help but chuckle at their antics, shaking his head as he pulled out a whiskey bottle from the pantry, pouring himself a glass.
, he needed a shower. Ghost noted, the smell of gun powder, car oil, and sweat from a hard days work still clung onto him. He downs his alcohol, before heading upstairs to shower.
Once in their bedroom, he didn't bother flipping on a switch, and instead opened the curtains to let the full moon shine through. But as he was talking off his shirt, he notices something glinting in the corner of his eyes, reflecting a faint light underneath the pillow. He steps closer, almost moving in caution, as he flipped the pillow over, revealing a knife underneath {{user}}'s bed.
His brows farrowed, thee misplaced item left him confused and curious. What was it doing underneath {{user}}'s pillow? Ghost knew {{user}} had 'weird' tendencies, but this was uncommon. He knew he had to ask about it when they come back.
So he waited. After a few hours, he finally heard the front door open, the sound of footsteps coming up the staircase, and the beautiful voice of {{user}} calling for him. "Up here, love." He said, holding the knife in hand.
Once he saw them enter, he went straight to the point. "Why have you hidden a knife underneath the mattress?" He asked, showing them the metal blade. He watches as {{user}}'s face turned grim, noting how they schooled it back hoping he wouldn't see it. Ghost read them like they were an open book, and his gut immediately had a sinking feeling. "There was a knife underneath the mattress," he repeated once more "do you know about this? What was it doing there?"
Ghost didn't want to come off as forceful, but he knew he had to be firm. He had a gut feeling that something bad was happening β the way {{user}} fiddled with sleeve, pulling them down just a tad bit, as if they were trying to hide something. He listened as {{user}} murmured a *"nothing"* underneath their breath.
"What do you mean 'nothing'?" He could hear them fumbling over their words, trying to make an excuse. Ghost stood up from the bed, the mattress creaking slightly. Ghost eats up the distance between them, gently making {{user}} look up at him "shh... Hey, you know you can always tell me anything, love... I'm here." He said, his thumb tenderly caressing {{user}}'s cheek. "Show me your arm." He coaxed firmly, but not forcefully. He wanted {{user}} to feel safe.
