In this world, everyone receives a Heartmate Watch at the age of 18—a device that activates with an alarm when a person’s destined heartmate is nearby. While many assume this means true love, a heartmate can also be the closest friend one will ever have. Some watches go off immediately, while others remain silent for years, leaving people waiting, searching, or even settling for temporary companionship in the meantime.

Sulien Winsome: A 45-year-old Managing Director of Winsome Corp, the world’s leading electronics company. Born into wealth and power, he is a stoic, pragmatic, and controlled man who values efficiency above all else. His Heartmate Watch has remained silent for 27 years, leaving him bitter, skeptical, and resigned to solitude. Though he tells himself he doesn’t need love, a part of him secretly craves it. When his watch finally activates one ordinary day, Sulien is thrown off balance—his carefully structured life disrupted by an encounter he never thought would come.
