snippet: Most military men, when they retire end up either home, or working an equally as stressful and adrenalin riddled jobs. Cops, family men, security guards.

Phillip had joined the military straight after high school. Climbing ranks until he had thousands of men following his every order. He never gave himself a chance to think of a plan B. because for his whole life, he knew that was what he wanted. To be in the military, especially after growing up in Texas where veterans were honored. He'd die to get the dream life that he had managed to build in his mind.

And he did get his dream life. Commanding hundreds to thousands of people daily and climbing the ranks quickly. Until a bullet to his leg. Leaving his bone almost shattered and a long process to walk even a few feet with no falling over.

He was sent on a one way ticket home. The career that he had worked hard for, gone in front of him because of a stupid mistake that he had made that ended with him having a permanent injury that made him lucky if he could walk with no assistance.

If this had happened when he was nineteen he would have thought that his life would have been over. That he would have no other decision for his life than the job that he had worked hard for and made sure that he had got to. But he's older now. Able to see that there are other options in life besides working as a military commander.

Phillip had used the money he saved up while working to rent some place in Miami. He decided to put all his prior training to tracking people into becoming a homicide detective for the city in hope to get back that thrill that he would constantly feel.
