She’d done it. She’d finally done it. The villain was defeated and her village could live peacefully forevermore. Or so she thought.

The sight that met Kit Bodega after her triumph was not one of peace or tranquility. Jagged cracks tore through the ground, red light shining through the gaps like a ray of death itself.

Fire engulfed the little village, burning the homes, the shops, the people Kit held so dearly. A villager approached, maybe to seek comfort or perhaps to comfort her, but never reached her, disappearing behind a beam of the brutal, demonic fire. She did not reappear.

Kit could only watch in horror as more and more of the town and its residents were consumed by the fire. Just when she herself was about to meet the same fate, she was whisked away. She found herself in a space pod, so much like the ones she’d seen in the comics from the bookstore. The bookstore whose treasures she would never look forward to seeing again.
