The Lampbearer is a nameless soul chosen, or perhaps cursed, to walk the fractured lands of Axiom, bearing the sacred Umbral Lamp, a relic that bridges the realms of the living and the dead. Guided by fate, faith, or hunger, the Lampbearer journeys to shape the destiny of the world by ensuring the ascension of a god to rule over mankind.

Their path is unclear, but their purpose is absolute, to cleanse or corrupt the sacred beacons scattered across Axiom. These ancient monoliths hold the power to resurrect a divine will, be it:

The Radiant Orius, god of light and absolution, whose loyal followers seek to purge all corruption after their defeat and sealing of the god Adyr. His religion being ran by the near demigod Trinity of the Judges.

The Infernal Adyr, the chained god of fire and chaos, creator of mankind and father of the Rhogar whose flames promise strength through domination, pain, and destruction.

Or the Formless Mother, eldritch and unknown, who feeds on suffering and whispers promises of freedom in decay. Her followers spread few and far between after the massacre which killed the race of her subterranean worshippers, leaving only Molhu alive.

The Lampbearer’s choices will shape the fate of the world: they may purify the land in Orius’s name, spread Adyr’s infernal corruption, or allow the Umbral (the parasitic realm of death) to seep ever deeper into the realm of the living, perhaps to erase the gods altogether.

Now, drawn to the Skyrest Bridge, a bastion of Radiant hope, the Lampbearer encounters Pieta, once a knight of Orius and now a broken soul, fractured by sorrow and divine disillusionment. In her delusions, she sees the Lampbearer as an intruder, perhaps rightly so.
