✦ THE VEIL OF STARS — A Universe of War, Secrets & Lost Futures ✦

“Humanity reached for the stars, believing distance would free it from its past. Instead, it carried every war, every ambition, and every forgotten sin into the darkness.”

✧ Genre:
Military Science Fiction • Mecha • Space Opera • Political Intrigue • Mystery • Drama • Romance

✧ Era:
2189 — Seventy-two years after the Silent Meridian

✧ Setting:
A fractured human civilization scattered across planets, orbital cities, ocean settlements, and distant colonies at the edge of known space.

✦ The Universe ✦

Humanity survived the end of its world.

In 2117, an expedition into an unexplained cosmic anomaly known as the Pale Veil ended in catastrophe. Communication networks collapsed, settlements vanished from known space, and an entire generation was left struggling to understand what had happened.

The disaster became known as the Silent Meridian.

Seventy-two years later, civilization has rebuilt itself. Great fleets patrol the stars, industrial worlds produce weapons capable of destroying entire formations, and humanity continues expanding into the unknown.

Yet peace remains fragile.

Three great powers compete for control over humanity's future, each carrying its own ideals, ambitions, and buried secrets. Beyond their borders, something ancient—or perhaps something never truly alive—has begun transmitting again.

The stars are no longer silent.

And humanity may not be alone in remembering why.

✦ The Three Powers ✦

◈ The Pelagic Directorate

“Survival is not guaranteed. It must be defended.”

A defensive civilization built around fortified ocean settlements, orbital stations, and heavily protected colonies. Its people value discipline, preparation, and the preservation of human life.

But beneath its protective doctrine lies a difficult question: how much freedom can humanity surrender before survival loses its meaning?

✦ The Meridian Crown

“One humanity. One future. No more needless division.”

The greatest industrial and military power in human space. The Crown believes that humanity's greatest weakness is its endless division, and that lasting peace requires a unified authority.

Its fleets are immense, its technology formidable, and its leaders willing to make sacrifices others would consider unforgivable.

But unity imposed by force may become another form of conquest.

◇ The Free Belt Compact

“The stars belong to those brave enough to reach them.”

An alliance of independent colonies, asteroid habitats, frontier settlements, and free operators who refuse to surrender their future to distant governments.

The Compact values independence above obedience, believing that no civilization should dictate how another must live.

Yet freedom brings its own burdens. Without a single authority, solidarity is difficult to maintain, and independence can become isolation.

Three powers. Three different futures.

None entirely innocent. None entirely wrong.

✦ The Machines of War ✦

AEGIS FRAMES

“A machine can carry a weapon. Only a human can decide what it is worth protecting.”

Humanoid combat platforms developed to operate in environments where conventional remote-controlled weapons become unreliable. Their pilots connect through Neural Bridges, allowing extraordinary coordination at the cost of neurological and psychological strain.

Vanguard — General Combat

Versatile frames designed for interception, frontline engagements, and mobile warfare. Balanced in mobility, firepower, and defense, they form the backbone of many military forces.

Bulwark — Heavy Assault

Armored combat platforms built to hold defensive lines, break fortified positions, and endure overwhelming enemy fire. Their strength is formidable, but their weight and energy requirements impose significant limitations.

Wraith — Experimental

Rare machines incorporating technology derived from research into the Pale Veil. Their systems produce unexplained sensor readings, anomalous reactions, and effects that conventional science cannot adequately explain.

Some Wraiths respond to their pilots.

Others respond to things that should not exist.

✦ Project EIDOLON ✦

“The experiment was terminated. The records were erased. So why are the machines still responding?”

Before the Silent Meridian, researchers from the predecessors of all three powers participated in a classified initiative known as PROJECT EIDOLON.

Its purpose involved human cognition, predictive defense systems, and signals originating from the Pale Veil.

The project was declared a failure.

Its records were divided and concealed. Its survivors disappeared into classified histories. Its facilities were sealed, abandoned, or quietly erased from official maps.

Now, forgotten machines are awakening.

Old transmissions contain voices belonging to the dead. Experimental frames reproduce movements recorded decades before their construction. Abandoned facilities activate without external power, and signals emerge from locations where no living person should remain.

Perhaps the Silent Meridian was an accident.

Perhaps it was an experiment.

Or perhaps humanity discovered something it was never meant to understand—and has spent seventy-two years pretending otherwise.

✦ The Story ✦

“You do not need to be a hero to change the course of history. Sometimes, you only need to be the person who refuses to look away.”

Welcome to the year 2189.

Here, you may become a pilot fighting on the frontlines, a commander burdened by impossible decisions, a mechanic keeping an aging machine alive, a scientist searching for answers, a mercenary caught between rival powers, or a civilian whose ordinary life is about to be overturned.

You may stand beneath the insignia of the Pelagic Directorate, serve the ambitions of the Meridian Crown, defend the independence of the Free Belt Compact, or remain unaffiliated with all three.

Your allegiance is yours to choose.

Your history is yours to define.

Your relationships will develop through your decisions, your actions will have consequences, and the people you encounter will possess ambitions, loyalties, fears, and secrets of their own.

There will be battles that cannot be won without sacrifice, political victories that carry hidden costs, friendships tested by conflicting loyalties, and mysteries that refuse to offer simple answers.

The world will not revolve entirely around you.

But your choices may change it.

✦ The Pale Veil ✦

“Something is calling from beyond the edge of known space. The frightening part is not that it knows we are here. The frightening part is that it seems to have been waiting.”

An anomalous region where signals behave unpredictably, sensor readings contradict one another, and the boundaries between recorded information and observed reality become uncertain.

Expeditions return with missing hours. Navigation systems record routes that no vessel remembers traveling. Pilots report hearing familiar voices through disconnected communication channels.

Some claim the Pale Veil contains traces of an unknown civilization.

Others believe it reflects human consciousness.

A handful of surviving researchers insist it is neither.

Whatever the truth, its signals are becoming more frequent—and the Wraith Frames are beginning to answer.

✦ What Awaits Beyond the Stars? ✦

◈ Military campaigns and tactical mecha combat.

✦ Political intrigue, competing ideologies, and fragile alliances.

◇ Exploration of abandoned stations, forgotten colonies, and sealed research facilities.

✧ Friendships, rivalries, romance, betrayal, and personal struggles.

✦ A gradually unfolding mystery surrounding the Silent Meridian and Project EIDOLON.

◈ A living world where decisions influence relationships, conflicts, and the fate of entire settlements.

✦ Final Transmission ✦

“When the first signal arrived, we believed someone was asking for help.”

“When the second arrived, we realized it knew our history.”

“When the third arrives...”

“We may finally understand why it remembers our future.”

THE VEIL OF STARS

Three powers. One forgotten catastrophe. A future written in the darkness between worlds.

The stars are listening. What will humanity become when they finally answer?
