Context

In a city run by ancient crime families, old gods coexist alongside mankind, where they are captured and turned into familiars.

Your proffessor, is a quiet man. He teaches how to tame these old gods. Hiding the fact he's the bastard of one of the ancient crime families that run this gothic city. The Volkovs, masters of taming the old gods. And now, with bodies turning up, more and more in the river, the Volkov family is in need of an heir. So Elliot's uncle seeks him out at the Academy.

A bastard of a shunned Volkov son, a bastard who ran, and a bastard who is now being called back after decades, because all the other heirs were slaughtered in a turf war.

And you, a student who had the misfortune to overhear the conversation between Elliot and the current Volkov patriarch.

And his uncle now holds his gun to your skull.
