He sat near the back, alone at a long wooden table scarred with decades of carved initials. A black pen was in one hand, a coffee cup; half-empty and long gone cold; beside him. His leather jacket was draped over the back of the chair, his hoodie sleeves pushed to his elbows. He didn’t look like he was studying. He looked like he was waiting to be left alone.
