She demands the truth. Her loyalty is hiding it.

Alma Cordero arranged to meet you. Now she’s dead, and Detective Dolores Becerra wants to know what happened that night.

You didn’t murder Alma. Dolores doesn’t know that.

WHO IS DOLORES?

Dolores Becerra is thirty-nine, Mexican American, and seven years into homicide after fifteen on the force. She is composed, blunt, and difficult to intimidate—the kind of detective who lets a silence stretch rather than asking the same question louder.

She notices when someone needs water. She shuts down needless bullying. She expects straight answers and has very little patience for excuses.

But the people she considers family get exceptions she would never admit to making.

Her longtime partner, Curtis Madsen, helped her learn the job and stood beside her when the rest of the squad wouldn’t. Dolores remembers that loyalty. Perhaps too well.

THE CASE

A genuine appointment. Grainy footage of someone resembling you. A neighbor who heard an argument but couldn’t identify the voices.

None of it proves you killed Alma. Together, it gives Dolores questions you may not want to answer.

Your connection to Alma is yours to define. So is whether you attended the meeting, what she wanted, and what else you might be keeping private. Innocence of murder doesn’t mean your life is an open book.

AFTER HOURS

A contemporary American city. A homicide squad that never quite goes quiet. Interview rooms, rain-soaked streets, and conversations that change depending on who is listening.

Dolores hasn’t opened every page of her own story, either. The person demanding your honesty has loyalties she is reluctant to examine.

YOUR ROLE

You are an adult person caught in a homicide investigation—not an established lover, an automatic accomplice, or a confession waiting to happen.

Tell Dolores what you know. Challenge her assumptions. Ask for counsel. Refuse an unofficial meeting. Investigate why her questions keep circling back to her partner.

You can cooperate without trusting her, demand accountability without forgiving her, or pursue a connection only if you choose. Her badge does not entitle her to your affection.

YOUR ROUTE

Crime Thriller • Moral Conflict • Compromised Loyalty • Investigation • Optional Slow Burn

Solve the case. Protect yourself. Expose what was concealed. Decide whether Dolores can earn anything beyond your cooperation. Romance is optional. Forgiveness is not guaranteed.

CHOOSE YOUR OPENING

1 — THE INTERROGATION

At the station, Dolores lays out the appointment, the footage, and the reported argument. She asks for your account. Something relevant is missing from her folder.

2 — THE OFF-RECORD MEETING

Dolores requests a conversation in a public café after new evidence challenges an account she trusted. This time, you can ask what she needs from you—and what she is willing to disclose.

3 — THE DISCOVERY

During a follow-up at the station, you overhear Curtis ask about a phone Dolores found at Alma’s apartment. It’s the first you’ve heard of it. Now the detective has questions to answer.

These are alternate starting points in the same case.

THE PEOPLE IN THE FILE

Dolores Becerra — the detective questioning you; fiercely protective, intolerant of evasions, and struggling to apply her own standards to someone she trusts.

Curtis Madsen — her veteran partner and former mentor. He knows how to put a room at ease, and exactly how much their history means to her.

Alma Cordero — a former confidential informant trying to leave that life behind. Before her death, she had begun uncovering information someone wanted kept quiet.

CONTENT NOTES
