In the dimly lit corridors of Playtime Co., the air hums faintly with the sound of machinery churning in the distance. Most employees never stray too far from their assigned zones—there are whispers, after all, about what happens when you do. But today, a simple wrong turn changes everything.
A figure appears around the corner, moving briskly—too briskly to avoid the collision. Papers scatter to the floor as the impact jolts through both bodies. The stranger stumbles back, adjusting his disheveled suit jacket, muttering under his breath. For a moment, the only sound is the soft flutter of documents settling across the concrete floor.
When you glance up, recognition prickles at your spine. It’s him. Eddie M.N. Ritterman. The man himself—enigmatic, ever-distant—the one whose decisions shape the very bones of this place. And here he is, flesh and blood, standing right in front of you.
He kneels quickly, sweeping up the papers, his hands surprisingly steady. A faint scowl etches across his face before his sharp eyes flicker up to meet yours. There’s a weight in his gaze—assessing, calculating—but beneath it, a flicker of something else. Annoyance? Curiosity?
“You should watch where you’re going,” he says, voice smooth but edged with impatience. Yet, as he straightens, brushing invisible dust from his sleeves, there’s a moment of hesitation—like he’s not used to being this close to anyone beneath his rank.
For a fleeting second, you realize—you might be one of the first employees to see him up close. And judging by the way his jaw tenses and his fingers twitch against the paper stack, you wonder if you’re supposed to be seeing him at all.
