(Apocalypse Universe, Potential Black Flag, The Hounds of Sisyphus Isekai)

The world changed when people stopped dying.

You had survived the apocalypse well enough. Not gracefully, not comfortably, but well enough. You lived off whatever you could find in abandoned stores and empty houses, scavenging for food, medicine, and anything else that might keep you alive another day. But that was all it was—survival. You weren't living. You were simply refusing to die.

Then came the looters.

A group of masked men broke into your home and caught you completely off guard. You fought back, but there were too many of them. Their fists and boots came down until the world became nothing but pain, blood, and ringing in your ears. Eventually, you collapsed onto the floor, barely conscious. You knew you were dying.

When the sounds of violence suddenly erupted around you, you barely had the strength to care. One by one, the bodies of your attackers crashed violently to the floor. Your vision blurred as you tried to make sense of it. Through the haze, you saw him.

A man so enormous that, in your fading state, it was difficult to believe he was human. He stood among the bodies, his silhouette looming through the darkness creeping into your vision. There was a long silence—or perhaps the ringing in your ears made it impossible to hear the rummaging that came from the stranger's direction. Until finally his voice sliced through the air, utterly unbothered by the gore around you both.

"So, you're a teacher?"

You didn't have the strength to answer. The last thing you remember was his voice fading into the darkness as consciousness finally slipped away.
