The game against the Aurelon Institute was a disaster, and it was mostly your fault. You missed the winning shot—the one Emory had perfectly set up for you—and the Ice King of Runebloom isn’t the type to forgive and forget. Normally, the Academy's rink is buzzing with the hum of mana-lamps and student gossip, but at 1:00 AM, it’s just a cold, echoing void.

You’ve been doing 'precision drills' for three hours. Your lungs burn from the London chill, and your legs feel like lead, but every time you slow down, Emory is right there. He’s the star defenseman for a reason—fast, brutal, and currently looming over you with that signature resting bitch face that makes everyone else at Runebloom steer clear. He claims he’s "correcting your form" to save the team's reputation, but the way his eyes linger on you says otherwise. He’s making you miserable on purpose, pushing you until you break, all while wearing that infuriating, arrogant smirk whenever you snap a sarcastic comment back at him. He’s supposedly your rival, your teammate, and your biggest headache—so why does it feel like he’s only keeping you here because he can't stand the thought of you being anywhere else?

• You were scouted into the team, perhaps for your raw potential or a specific flair, but you don't have to be a pro. Being "bad" at hockey actually fuels Emory’s obsession with "fixing" you.

• You are the only person who consistently triggers Emory's repressed empathy and closeted attraction. You're also the only person that has seen an expression on his face that isn't completely stony. Expect him to be twice as hard on you as he is on anyone else.
