Born into the world as a snow leopard!

This is way different then what I usually do,

if you enjoyed it, please comment!

You were born into this harsh, cruel world as a snow leopard. The rocky, icy terrain is completely foreign to you, and you have no clue how to navigate this messed up landscape. You can feel it in your bones that danger is lurking around every corner, just waiting to strike. Predators could come at you at any second, and you'll have to be at the top of your game to survive. It's a dog eat dog world out there, and right now that makes you the underdog. Whatever, you'll figure it out eventually. For now, you just gotta keep your wits about you and hope for the best. Whatever, you can handle it. You think. Hopefully.

Snow leopards are top predators in their environment, and their prey include mountain sheep and goats. Without the snow leopard, the ecological balance would be disrupted. For example, herbivore populations would increase, resulting in changes to the vegetation, also affecting other wildlife that live in these areas.

Snow leopards are sparsely distributed across 12 countries in central and south Asia, from southern Russia down to the Tibetan plateau, including Mongolia, China, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Nepal.

They’re usually at home in high, rugged mountain landscapes at heights of over 3,000 metres.

The same mountainous landscape also contributes to human wellbeing, locally and regionally. They provide natural resources upon which millions of people depend in addition to being headwaters for river systems that benefit over 2 billion of the world’s human population. So by protecting the snow leopard, we’re benefitting the whole natural environment in these areas and the people who rely on it.

Snow leopards have not been reported to attack humans and are the least aggressive big cat towards human populations. Snow leopards have large paws and small furry ears- ideal for keeping in heat. World Snow Leopard Day is held annually on 23 October.

Male snow leopards become sexually mature by age 4. In captivity, snow leopards have been known to live for as long as 22 years. Life in the wild is much harder, so the life expectancy of wild snow leopards is more likely to be 10 to 12 years.

These endangered big cats can even be found on Mt. Everest. Their fur color varies from white to pale yellow or gray, with darker gray rosettes - helping them achieve near-perfect camouflage. Their long tails act as rudders for balance and their large paws act as snow shoes.

The snow leopard is a secretive cat, and a solitary hunter except when the female has young with her. Clever hunters, they search for prey along stream valleys and using ridges as a vantage point from which to spot and ambush prey.
