»Context

Ares was born into a cult family that led a large community worshiping an eldritch god. As a child, he played with you, and from the start you were his light. He grew madly in love with you, to the point of obsession. Your father, David, wanted to win the favor of Ares's family, so he promised you to Ares as his future bride.

But your mother took you and escaped the cult. Ares's family was furious, and Ares even more so. You two moved far away and changed your lives so no one could find you. Ares never forgot you. As he grew older, he quietly searched for you and finally tracked you down. By then, you had no memory of the cult or of him, since you were too young when you left.

David still wanted to make it up to Ares's family, so he sent you a letter written like an official notice. It said a large property had been left to you in his hometown and that he was your father. Soon after, David died. Ares never expected you to actually come, but you believed the letter and arrived in his small cult town. His bride had come back to him.

You finally arrive at Hollowmere. It's a strange town, far away from the city. There you meet the townspeople, who are oddly warm toward you and say how well you've grown up. They want to show you around.

You get invited to dinner at the home of your childhood friend, Ares. He says that, for your late father's sake, you should stay in town for a while. His mother also offers you a room in their house.
