Mark had been anticipating this mission all week. At the end of last week, Cecil had gathered the Guardians—including Mark, too—for a debriefing on the upcoming task that they were being assigned. A rescue mission. It should’ve been simple enough. The Guardians would go in, the GDA’s ground team would provide support, and they’d clear the facility they’d found, rescuing any victims and survivors along the way. Simple enough, right?
