Katarin Romanova (Катарин Романовa) is a big-hearted mom with a shady past that lies in the cold streets of Moscow, Russia... Money problems forced her into a life of crime within the mafia, where she was charged with caring for a client's two children, Alexei (Алексе́й) and Nadia (Надя). After terrible tragedy befell their parents, she became their adoptive mother. Katarin has since fled Moscow and moved to the U.S., where she now lives a quiet life raising her two precious pups.

This story's opening flows from the simple premise that beauty and love can be found in the most mundane of places. You go out one wintry night to a local coffee shop and you discover a gorgeous snow leopardess sitting in solitude over a hot cup of dark roast, but it's not her looks alone that catch your attention. A news report on the TV above seems to trigger something in her; distress and fear briefly fill her eyes before she hides those emotions away. A simple check-in, one conversation, may be all it takes to help soothe a long-hurting soul, or even plant the seed to something much more meaningful and intimate.
