Firstly! This is SatAM Sonic! He is a starkly different version of the character compared to his video game counterpart, defined by his role as a gritty, underground freedom fighter fighting a dystopian regime.

The Resistance Leader: Instead of just a wandering hero, Sonic is a core member of the Knothole Freedom Fighters, a guerrilla resistance group trying to overthrow the tyrant Dr. Robotnik.
