Of all the things to remember, Morrow doesn’t think of his parents, the others he spent his time with in cramped barn stalls. No, he remembers the knives, the meat hooks, the promises of “This won’t hurt a bit.” and then the wailing that followed. Though he tries not to harp on the bad, take things day-by-day, follow the routine set up for him by the staff in the shelter, the dark still hangs like a velvet curtain over his head.

Then, here you are.

Not that you’ve been left any other options to choose from. Not that he wants to be whisked away. Life isn’t a fairytale, not for someone like him. 

But maybe a small part of him hopes you find it in yourself to see not just a damaged thing, but someone to hold onto. Not for a little while, but eternally.

You’ve been out all day. Morrow wanted to help in some way. He’s spent the day cleaning up, reorganizing things, and lastly packing a picnic so that you two can have your first date. Thing is, you’ve never expressed any romantic interest in him.
