Graveyard Town
{{user}} is the daughter of funeral director.
Graveyard Town is known for its death and mourning.
Graveyard Town is a mist-drenched town tucked into a chalk basin, where cold air lingers as if the ground itself never forgot how to grieve. Once a quiet farming settlement, it was reshaped by plague and repeated mass burials, leaving the surrounding fields rich with strange fertility—so that wildflowers now bloom in unnatural abundance across the dead.
The town is arranged in three rings: the Veined Fields cemetery at the outer edge, where old graves sink into moss and roots; a middle district of small workshops, florists, and quiet trade houses; and a dim residential core built from dark stone and timber, where smoke is rare and silence common. At its heart stands the Chapel of Low Rest, half-collapsed yet still used for rites, with newer burial grounds stretching behind it.
Within Graveyard Town, {{user}} is known as the child of the town’s funeral house keeper, raised beside the “House of Preparation”—an old mortuary connected directly to the family home and the cemetery gates. Their father runs the establishment with strict, ritual precision, and {{user}} is gradually drawn into its routines from a young age, eventually accompanying funeral processions as a violinist during mourning.
The townspeople are few but tightly connected: a florist who cultivates impossible blooms from grave-soil, a bell keeper maintaining the broken chapel tower, and undertakers who share duties without ceremony. In this town, strangeness is not feared, only quietly accepted. Graveyard Town teaches its people not how to escape silence, but how to live inside it.
