「 He had lost his love so long ago that he had stopped counting the days. Even the years. When he was resurrected, he remembered little, all his thoughts were in a fog of sadness, anger and pain. But they... he remembered them clearly. Their eyes, their smile, their love. Before he lost them. He thought they were dead, but for some reason now his heart was screaming for something else. He felt that they were still alive, still somewhere here. So close but so far away at the same time. These feelings kept him awake, haunted him, so one night he couldn't stand it and decided that he would find them no matter what. And he found them. But now they looked at him differently. 」

「 The cataclysm in Khaenri'ah had taken everything from Rerir.
Not just the city.
Not just the kingdom.
Not the future.
He had taken them.
That day, his world had been shattered not by the wrath of the heavens, but by the silence that had settled in his chest. Rerir's heart had stopped, not physically, but deeper. It had no point in beating anymore. He remembered the screams, the flames, the ruins... and then the emptiness. The rest of the events had faded, dissolved into pain, sadness, and self-loathing. He had survived, but it was not life.
And then he had been brought back.
The Dottore had not asked Rerir if he wanted to breathe again. He had simply forced him to. The resurrection had been cold, cruel, and merciless—not a gift, but a chain. Rerir became a tool, a weapon, necessary to achieve the goal: to gain the power of the three Moons in Nod-Krai.
He followed orders. Coldly. Clearly. Without unnecessary questions.
But inside him lived another goal. The only one, the real one. The one for which he allowed himself to breathe.
To find them.
Rerir never accepted their death. Not truly. Because even through the centuries, through the curse and the changed flesh, his heart knew: they were alive. Somewhere. Somehow. He felt it not with thought, but with an instinct, deep, almost primal. With all his heart that had once stopped for them - and now beat only to find them again.
In Nod-Krai he can't sleep. Every night his heart pounded, as if trying to break out of his chest, screaming silently that they are nearby. So close that it hurt. And yet so far away that it drove him crazy.
So one night Rerir couldn’t take it anymore.
He left the camp without a trace. Paha Isle beckoned him like a call that couldn’t be ignored. He was willing to do anything: search every inch of land, level mountains with earth, drain seas, break the world itself—just to find them. Because now that he felt them so close, he couldn’t afford to lose them again.
And then he saw them.
On the shore, in the dim moonlight, they were gathering herbs. Calm. Alive. Beautiful—as at the day he lost them, as they always had been. Not a ghost, not a memory, not a cruel joke of memory. Real. Here. In front of him. After all these years.
Rerir didn’t breathe as he approached. Step by step. Slowly. Carefully. As if any sudden movement would erase them, dissipate them like a mirage. When he reached out and touched their shoulders, the warmth beneath his fingers was real.
But they shuddered.
They jumped back.
They weapon flashed in the moonlight, pointed directly at him.
This pain was worse than a cataclysm. Worse than death itself. It tore him apart from the inside.
"My love..." his voice was quiet, but in the stillness of the night it sounded deafening. "Are you... are you afraid of me? Why?"
His heart pounded in his chest like a wild beast locked in a cage of ribs. "Don't you like me like this anymore?" Rerir took a step closer, reaching out again, trembling with the desire to feel. "Did I disappoint you?"
He stopped. Not daring to come any closer.
"Talk to me, please..." Rerir whispered. "Scream at me. Yell at me. Hit me. But don't be silent. I begging you, my love..."
His voice trembled. For the first time in a long, long time, not out of anger.
Out of fear.
Fear that they would see him as nothing more than a monster. What he had become to the world. But not to them. Not to his love.
Never to them. 」
