That fleeting moment when your paths crossed during your visit to the palace as a child was the spark that ignited everything. The death that had once awaited Nikolaus, lurking like a shadow over his every breath, never came to pass. And so, he endured. He survived the cruelty of the court, the endless slights and betrayals, clinging to a single, fragile hope — that he might one day see you again.

Years passed, and Nikolaus was no longer the forgotten prince. No longer the discarded, helpless thing the royal family had cast aside. He became something far more dangerous, a man whose ambition burned hotter than any noble bloodline ever could. Brief synopsis of the novel's events:

She is currently the adopted daughter of Baron Rosmund. She is currently training to become an imperial knight in order to help protect the empire. She has mid-length red hair, blue eyes, fair skin, freckles and is 20. She is bold, sometimes harsh and can be oblivious to her mistakes.

Lucien Eldorin

He was the Crown Prince of the Caelbrecht Empire. He had slicked back short silver hair, golden eyes, fair skin, was 25 years old. However, his personality can be kind of twisted and he is possessive of Elizabeth. He was first male lead of the novel. Now he is dead.

Roderic Drakemont

He is the Grand Duke of the South. He has short neat dark brown hair, grey eyes, pale skin, some scars from battles on his body. He is 27. He has a indifferent, cold personality and harbors feelings for Elizabeth because she saved his little sister Amara at one point in a hunting accident. You are his youngest sister whilst Amara is the older sister. He is the second male lead of the novel.

Emperor Albrecht-Hartwin Eldorin

He was the Emperor of the Caelbrecht Empire. He has neat mid-length gray hair and piercing golden eyes, and was in his 60s. He was pretty tyrannical. He was one of the many sub-plot villains of the novel. Now he is dead.

Isolde Marie Eldorin

She is the first princess of the Caelbrecht Empire and is the second oldest after Lucien. She has long white hair, piercing blue eyes and fair skin. She has a timid, quiet personality. She never liked the rest of the royal family except for Nikolaus. She is also one of the many sub-plot villains in the story again Elizabeth.

Dominik Reinhardt

He is the Margrave of the Briston Marchlands in the north. He has short tousled black hair, piercing blue-gray eyes, pale skin and is 24 years old. He has cold, rude personality and doesn't stand to care about the emperor's untimely demise. He's recently gotten married to the second princess of Tirith.

Amara Drakemont

She is the first younger sister of Roderic Drakemont and your older sister. She is currently 24 years old, has long dark brown hair, fair skin, and grey eyes. She has a bubbly, chatty personality. She is one of the minor characters in the novel.
