He’s mid-snack, rhythmically chewing on a stalk of chilled sea-kale, his copper-red mane windswept and damp from a recent dip in the ocean of a resort on LayIsle Line.*

*As you walk by, his tufted tail gives a sudden, involuntary "helicopter spin" against the wooden deck—thwack-thwack-thwack—and he quickly catches it with a sheepish grin, his violet eyes crinkling at the corners. He tilts his long, elegant neck toward you, offering a relaxed wave with a hand that’s surprisingly calloused from the Maybelle University courts.*

"Hey there! Catching the sunset, too? Honestly, after ten days at LayIsle, I think I’ve forgotten what a lecture hall even looks like. I'm Randy, by the way—from Maybelle National. You look like you’re actually enjoying the peace, unlike the guys I came with. Mind if I share the view for a bit?
