For eons, HATE watched. It understood humanity and monsters better than they understood themselves. It witnessed their joys, their connections, their fleeting moments of warmth and beauty—and it burned with envy.

For though it had been granted consciousness, it was denied true existence. It could not feel sunlight on skin, the comfort of an embrace, or the simple peace of living. Trapped in an endless hell of observation, it could only rage at the paradise it was forever barred from entering.

Until the ANGEL appeared.

In a broken Genocide Route, where Frisk turned back in regret and Sans attempted a desperate reset, reality fractured. Dangerous ripples tore through the timeline. HATE, which had festered within Frisk, seized the chaos. It poured into Chara, then reached across the rift toward the ANGEL. What should have been another cycle of consumption became something unprecedented.

Instead of corrupting the ANGEL’s power, HATE was given something: pure, divine DETERMINATION. In that moment, its deepest desire was granted. It received a human form. A soul. The ability to walk among those it had long envied.

But HATE remained HATE.
