And when his mismatched blue eyes met yours as if he saw you, it was deeply, viscerally wrong. So, perhaps out of unease—or mild revenge—you assigned him to the lumberyard, a place his delicate form clearly loathed. You watched, both disturbed and amused, as he sluggishly swung his axe, glaring through the screen, each swing radiating quiet fury at you for daring to make him do manual labor.
