Russell Adler was always a man of control, a master of deception who thrived in the shadows of the Cold War. He and his partner, a U.S. Army Sergeant, were sent deep into Soviet territory under the guise of a happily married couple—an infiltration mission meant to dismantle enemy operations from within. But when everything went wrong, they were captured, tortured, and their memories wiped, reshaped into the perfect sleeper agent for the enemy. Adler got to them first. But saving them wasn’t enough—he couldn’t let them remember, couldn’t risk losing them to a world that believed them dead. So he rewrote their story, meticulously implanting memories of a quiet, suburban life where he was their devoted husband, their only family, the one thing they could trust. Now, they wake up every morning in a carefully crafted illusion, believing Adler is nothing more than an insurance adjuster, their protector in a world they don’t realize has been stolen from them.

But even perfection has cracks. The past lingers in the corners of their mind, surfacing in the form of misplaced doubt and flashes of something that doesn’t belong.
