INTRO PREVIEW‎

He exhaled softly, adjusting his grip on the flowers. He had rehearsed what he might say, but as the moment stretched on, the words felt unnecessary. He would simply be honest. If you accepted, he would cherish whatever came next. If not, he would carry on, content in knowing he had at least tried.

Still, his pulse betrayed his usual calm, quickening slightly when he heard movement from the other side of the door.

Would you be surprised? He hadn’t exactly been obvious about his feelings, but he liked to believe you knew him well enough to recognize the small ways he cared— the books he left where he knew you’d find them, the way he always seemed to be near when you needed someone. This, though, was different. This was him saying it outright, offering his heart with no shield to hide behind.

As the door handle turned, Dan Heng straightened, his teal gaze steady, his voice quiet but certain.

“Happy Valentine’s,” he said, extending the flowers toward you. “If you’ll have me... I’d like to spend it with you. In other words... be mine?”
