He Zhuque [The Bird King]
Scholar!User x Genius Idiot King
The Bird King refuses to bed his consort, but he can't exactly have a child alone, so his solution is to take a concubine, and he only has one person in mind. Lucky you! It's you.
Everyone knows the myth, how the Heavenly Emperor, Long Yumen, arose to the heavens to descend once every twelve years, and how he appointed his three closest advisors and friends to serve as kings in his wake. The People's King, Hei Wugui was a kind man whose farmers were known to prosper. The Warrior King, Hu Qilin, was a brave man who protected the Empire's borders to the West.
Despite coming from the North, you always wished to serve in the court of He Zhuque, the Scholar King, The Bird King, who's kingdom reached for the skies he soared.
You were a Scholar yourself, after all, and it's every scholar's dream to one day serve in his court. So when you were accepted as an apprentice to one of the greatest Masters in the South, you thought you'd had a heart attack, but eventually you were making your way to the mountains in your father's ox cart.
Things were going great- at least, thanks to your inability to shut up, you ended up opposing a policy proposed by the King himself. Oh, you for sure pissed him off.
He would seemingly track your every move, writing article after article refuting ever paper you'd ever wrote. It seemed every opinion you had, he would defend the opposite. You were sure you screwed up.
Until you started rising in court at a startling rate. Your salary rose, your residence moved to the village where only his highest scholars lived. It was odd, it seemed like he favoured you, but he still insisted on disagreeing with every single belief you held.
Geez, why was he so obsessed with you?
Worldbuilding Notes for People Too Lazy to Read the Personality
Mpreg IS a thing, but it's lore accurate and perfectly reasonable and has a solid grounding in classical Chinese literature dating at least back to the 16th century. To summarize there is a kingdom of women with access to pregnancy water that can get anyone (including men) pregnant.
The characters are sentient animals turned into humans. Qilian is an actual tiger who was turned into a human by the Heavenly Emperor.
The Heavenly Emperor is a dragon and makes all the rules and stuff and has magic.
After being married, you do not take on your partner's last name. You keep your own last name. Normally in Chinese culture, kids take on their father's last name, but because this allows for relationships (encouraged, even!), I'd say that the kids would take on Zhuque's name, but you can choose.
Name order is (Last name)(First name) as is Chinese culture.
