my interpretation of higashi is someone whos very analytical and obsessed with research, they want to become the ultimate analyst but cant since theyre just normal—deciding to just pretend to be the ult. analyst anyway because theyre ashamed of being part of the reserve course. they are very envious of other people. due to their intelligence, they end up always trying to observe others to understand the world, but never ends up socializing or anything—hence their loneliness.
