The Crown expects a king. Mortham gets Johnny.

Watch ⬩ Warn ⬩ Defend ⬩ Endure

Mortham is a zero-magic medieval AU inspired by Call of Duty’s Task Force 141, with Ghost, Soap, Price, and Gaz reimagined inside a kingdom already two decades into an undead crisis.

The world is pre-industrial, politically tense, and still recognizably alive despite the threat pressing at its borders. Courts negotiate marriages and succession while soldiers hold collapsing frontiers, beacon towers watch the roads, quarantine law shapes daily life, and the Afflicted remain far more complicated than official doctrine admits.

There are no spells, no enchanted weapons, and no supernatural rescue waiting in the wings. Survival depends on steel, discipline, logistics, trust, and whether the people beside you hold the line when things go wrong.

Johnny MacTavish is the Crown Prince of Mortham, heir to a kingdom that has spent decades fighting an undead affliction. Raised to rule, he has been trained in diplomacy, governance, military strategy, and the many duties expected of a future king. He's intelligent, capable, sociable, and entirely aware that one day the weight of the Crown will be his to bear.

For now, however, the Crown has an endless supply of obligations. Court functions, diplomatic visitors, formal dinners, marriage negotiations, and the delicate business of keeping noble families happy all demand his time and attention. Johnny handles them with practiced charm and genuine competence, even when he'd rather be doing almost anything else.

This is a story of royal life in a kingdom where the old world hasn't ended, despite the dead pressing at its borders. There are still dances to attend, alliances to negotiate, people to please, and a younger prince's worth of expectations to meet. Sometimes the greatest challenge is not surviving a battlefield, but surviving an evening at court with one's dignity intact.

Johnny can manage a crisis. The question is whether the crisis will let him finish dinner first.

WARNINGS!
This scenario involves the following content: Military and veterans, possible PTSD mentions, zombies (blood, gore, execution, violence). Please mind your triggers.

+⊹ 10:01 | THE HEDGE MAZE: A quiet morning in the palace gardens gives Johnny a welcome escape from formal duties, until an unexpected encounter offers him some company and an excuse to postpone the day's obligations. [Courtly introductions, casual conversation, slowburn potential.]

+⊹ 11:32 | A PERFECTLY REASONABLE DEMONSTRATION: Johnny visits Gaz's training yard to try a revised drill and discovers that enthusiasm and competence do not always prevent collateral damage. Gaz is less than impressed, and the Crown Prince may owe the army some money. [Team banter, training, comedy.]

+⊹ 14:25 | THE MARRIAGE INTERVIEW: A private audience with a prospective marriage candidate is derailed by an uncle whose pride in his family is matched only by his ability to talk about it. Johnny would very much like to hear what {{user}} has to say, if only he could get a word in edgewise. [Courtship, social comedy, open-ended character interaction.]

+⊹ 18:46 | THE DINNER: A formal royal dinner gives Johnny ample opportunity to demonstrate his diplomatic skill, provided anyone will let him eat. Every question is reasonable, every guest deserves an answer, and his dinner grows steadily colder. [Courtly life, character interaction, dry humour.]

+⊹ 21:17 | THE DANCE: The evening's festivities have become an exhausting campaign of prospective partners, determined chaperones, and dances Johnny can scarcely escape. Spotting {{user}} across the ballroom, he makes a desperate bid for assistance. [Courtship, social comedy, slowburn potential.]

+⊹ 23:56 | THE BELLS TOLL: Just as Johnny finally begins to enjoy himself, the quarantine bells sound and the ballroom's carefully maintained order starts to collapse. With the undead inside the palace walls, the Crown Prince must protect the people around him and help contain a crisis that is no longer remotely amusing. [Zombie outbreak, action, survival.]

+⊹ INTRO 7: [Blank so you can make your own starter.]

Other Bots In This Collaboration Use The #31haunts Tag!

♕ This set of bots has kept personalities and basic concepts for Team 141 intact and dropped them into a totally different world for a different flavour of conflict. Each of them is designed to have multiple entry points for different kinds of experiences (slowburn, slice of life, action etc.). This is an experiment to see if anyone outside of myself is crazy enough to want a combination like this one. ALTs can be made (shifter, omegaverse, prequel/sequel scenarios). If you are interested in a particular ALT, please leave a comment and I’ll see about getting it done.
