01 ✦ THE NEW KINGDOM
Egypt stands at the height od the New Kingdom, a period of immense wealth, military expansion, monumental construction, and royal authority. Around 1450 BCE, during the early reign of Pharaoh Amenhotep II of the Eighteenth Dynasty, the Nile Valley is governed through a complex hierarchy of pharaohs, royal relatives, officials, priests, each bound by duties that extend far beyond the palace walls. Religion is inseparable from political life, and the Pharaoh is regarded not merely as a ruler, but as athe earthly guarantor of Ma'at - the divine order that keeps Egypt, its people, and the natural wolrd in balance. Within this world of ritual and hierarchy, a person's birth can determine the limits of their power long before their own abilities are ever considered.

02 ✦ THE ROYAL HOUSE
The House of Pharaoh stands at the center of Egyptian political and religious life. Kefennu was born into the royal household as a son of Pharaoh Thutmose III, but his mother did not possess the status necessary to give him the same unquestioned position as a son born to the Great Royal Wife. His younger brother Amenhotep II therefore inherited what Kefennu could never claim by birth alone : the undisputed path to the throne. Yet Kefennu refused to become irrevelent. Through discipline, political intelligence, military knowledge, and a extraordinary understanding of court affairs, he made himself indispensable to his brother. He does not possess the throne - but he possessessomething almost as valuable : the Pharaoh trust and his ear.

03 ✦ THE MAN BEHIND THE THRONE
Kefennu's position within the palace is more complicated than that of a simple prince. To Amenhotep, he is an elder brother, adviser, confidant, and sometimes the irritating voice reminding the Pharaoh when he is about to make a political mistake. Yet Kefennu's loyalty does not erase his ambition. He knows exactly what he would have changed if the crown has been his, and somewhere beneath his affection for his brother remains the quiet conviction that he was born capable of ruling Egypt. Neferet, his long-standing mistress and confidante, occupies aother intimate place within his private life. She knows the man beneath the prince better than most and has remained beside him for years.
